Overheard in the Robinson household

Vol. 4 Pat: Graham, why are you fighting this? A lot of people would pay money to have someone wipe their butt.                                                                                                                                                    ...

Tis the season to be thankful

I saw this link of Facebook and I thought it was a great idea. The author encourages readers to take the week leading up to Thanksgiving to list reasons why you are thankful for your husband. If you list seven items a day and then one on Thanksgiving, you will end up with 50 reasons you are thankful for the man you married. I saw this on Wednesday, when you were supposed to start, and I am just getting around to in on Friday. Shocking, I know. So I have some catching up to do. There are a lot of reasons why I think this exercise is important for any couple, but for me particularly, I feel like I've taken him for granted since having Graham. I have put everything I have into being the best mom I could be and I have neglected many other areas in my life (just ask my friends and family who probably think I've fallen off the face of the Earth) - including my marriage. I followed the Babywise book for getting Graham on a schedule and teaching him good sleeping habits from a you...

3:30 a.m. parties aren't what they used to be

Via Party in Graham's crib last night at 3:30 a.m. Those onesies have a whole new meaning to me now and I don't quite find them as humorous as I once did. When I went into his room to see what his deal was, he greeted me with a huge smile and continued to smile at me the entire time I changed his diaper. I think he really was hoping for a party. And the "party" wasn't over until about 5 a.m. Needless to say, mamma and papa Robinson were a bit tired on this hump day. But I can't complain. Since he was six weeks old, this is only the third time we've been up in the middle of the night. He is a really good sleeper and I know we are lucky (although I'm convinced it isn't just about good luck. Sleep training must play some role, too. I highly recommend BabyWise and/or 12 hours sleep by 12 weeks old). So why did he wake up? While of course we don't know for sure, we suspect it has something to do with the fact that it was 74+ degrees in hi...

27 weeks

Week: 27 Baby length: 14.5 inches Baby weight: 2 lbs. - the weight of a head of cauliflower Bump size: 38.25 inches (same as last week) Weight: +21 pounds (+1 lb. from last week) Cravings: Jimmy Johns sub Cravings I have to say, the sweets cravings are getting better. Don't get me wrong, I still like to have a little dessert after dinner, but doesn't everyone (my non-pregnant self excluded)? But as long as I demonstrate portion control - which I do - I don't see a problem with an ice cream sandwich or a small cup of sherbet after dinner. And if that's bad, then I don't want to be good. I have been craving Jimmy Johns since the day my doctor told me to avoid eating deli meat. On Saturday, I finally gave in to the temptation. Instead of ordering the usual, turkey tom, I had the vegetarian sub. It was amazing. I didn't even miss the turkey. I want another one right now. Baby Movements My sister and my nephew Max were both able to fe...

If life is a race, I am losing

It seems the only time it's cute for someone to be running around saying, "I'm late! I'm late! For a very important date," is when you're a fictional little white rabbit. Pat and I had very little going on this weekend and were able to be completely lazy both Saturday and Sunday. It was great. Except for the fact that the only two obligations we did have, I made us late to both. Pat does not find it cute or endearing and I don't blame him. On Saturday night we had Pat's uncle's retirement party and I was providing the music. I wanted to get there about 15 minutes before it actually started so I could have the music going before people arrived. 15 minutes early turned in to 20 minutes late, all because I waited too long to get ready. I felt horrible. On Sunday afternoon, we had a gymnastics meet for Pat's cousin Lia. We wanted to make sure we got there right on time so we didn't miss any of her events. We ended up getting there 15 m...
